Youth and Children Programs

At St. John’s Episcopal Church, our youth programs are all about faith, friendship, and fun.

We try to offer meaningful programs for kids and families, including Sunday School, Youth Group, and exciting holiday events—creating a space where young people can grow in faith, make real friendships, and be part of something bigger, all year round. No matter the age, every student is welcomed, valued, and encouraged to grow in faith and friendship.

YOUTH GROUP : Our Youth Group is designed to help kids and teens grow in community, build lasting friendships, and discover what it means to support and care for one another. We divide into two age groups to meet everyone where they are.

Our K–5th grade (Fledglings) group focuses on learning how to be kind, inclusive, and compassionate through fun, hands-on activities like games, crafts, and group projects. It's a space where younger kids begin to understand what it means to be part of a caring community and how to grow together in friendship and trust.

For youth in 6th grade through senior high, the group becomes a place for deeper conversations about life, identity, and faith in action. Through shared meals, service projects, team-building, and open discussion, teens are encouraged to explore who they are and how they can make a positive impact in the world around them.

Each Sunday, we meet from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, beginning with a casual dinner that helps everyone unwind and connect. No matter where you’re coming from or what you’re going through, Youth Group at St. John’s is a space to be yourself, build real relationships, and grow stronger—together.

SUNDAY SCHOOL :  Classes for all ages meet on Sunday mornings (Sept. - May) at 9:30 am. Kids pre-K through 2nd learn major Bible stories and Church history through "Godly Play", a Montessori-based method of teaching the Bible. 3rd through 5th graders explore Christian living in the "Living Holy" class. They will learn about the early church, explore patterns of life and special places in the church, and will also begin to engage in theological reflection. 6th through 8th graders will examine Christian themes in popular culture, focusing on concepts such as love, justice, and good/evil. 9th through 12th grade will use the baptismal covenant as a basis for identify areas of need in our community and designing service projects to address those needs.
